These prints were available from Collier's. Despite the fact that they were labelled "Artist Proof" by the magazine, it is not possible for them to be artist proofs as the modern collectable market understands the term, asĀ Frederic Remington died in 1909 and was thus unavailable to personally approve prints released in 1912. These were sold already matted. Over time, these examples have become separated from the original matting, though it is still present.
