Number on the knob is not Dale Berra's. While it was not uncommon in this era for relief pitchers to not be issued bats and use a teammates bat, the number 37 was not used by a relief pitcher for the Pirates during this era. The only players to wear 37 while Berra was there were middle infielders. While the bat has been prepped and shows heavy signs of use, we are unable to figure out who it might have been used by.
