Lot Description  

One of the original AHL teams, this volume contains programs from all 1939-40 regular and postseason home games. This season saw the Reds win their second Calder Cup. An interesting note:every online resource we consulted says the team was known as the Providence Reds until 1977, but the programs consistently refer to the team as the Rhode Island Reds. The Rhode Island Reds Historical Society was able to confirm for us that the team was always officially the Rhode Island Reds, put official league standings and out-of-town reporters referred to the team as the Providence Reds.
