Two armed forces teams, made up of service members assigned to the respective fields. They played a schedule against a mix of other armed forces squads, as well as NCAA, NFL and semi-pro teams. The March Field squad beat the NCAA's UCLA and Washington that year, and the semi-pro San Diego Bombers. Their only two losses came against the NFL's Washington Redskins (7-3) and in this game 20-7. Randolph Field was so well supplied with eventual professional players (among them HOFer Bill Dudley) that it put us in mind of the football team for the 325th Evac Hospital (any MASH fans out there). Their first three opponents that season were Rice, Texas, and SMU, which they beat by a combined score of 149-6 and finished the season undefeated.
