Cropped and touched up photo likely used by the San Francisco Examiner ("Examiner" can be seen in two places, but other information isn't visible, due to croppping and a pasting of the actual newsprint photo on the reverse) Subject is Jackie's visit to a "slum" area in Buffalo. Notes on the back have been impacted by the cropping but one pencil notation says "JACKIE w/ RACIAL." Governor Nelson Rockefeller had actually asked Jackie to come to Buffalo as there had been ongoing race riots and there was hope that Robinson might be able to improve the situation. Caption on the photo attached to the reverse is "Jackie Robinson with youngsters during tour of Buffalo slum area." A piece of civil rights as well as baseball history.
