Lot Description  

No publisher information available. Soldier identified as Colonel Chatfield by the Library of Congress. Chatfield served with the 1st and 3rd Connecticut Infantry regiments. He was wounded twice, once at the battle of Pocatiglio, and again at the 2nd Battle of Fort Wagner while supporting the assault of the 54th Massachusetts depicted in the movie "Glory". Chatfield died as a result of those wounds on August 9, 1863. Photographer credit is unknown.
