So what, exactly, do we mean by "Ultimate?" This: The collector's goal was to aquire 1 card or photo for every player to appear in a game for the Phillies from 1950-2023 (Hank Borrowy is represented by a 1949 Eureka Sport Stamp and Johnny Blatnik is represented with a 1949 Bowman). He certainly appears to have reached that goal, though we can't promise that he didn't miss someone who played in only a handful of games. Despite taking more than 40 images for this lot (use the scroll bar to the left underneath the images to see them all - click on an image to enlarge it), the images don't really convey the scope of this collection.

Consists of over 1000 cards, and over 200 photos/flats (includes team issues). You might just be surprised how many people you forgot played for the Phillies. Does not include any numbered inserts, or high numbers. Many HOFers, the only HOF rookie card is Fergie Jenkins. Included HOFers are:

Richie Ashburn, Robin Roberts, Sparky Anderson, Fergie Jenkins 1966 Topps #254 rookie card POOR, Jim Bunning, Mike Schmidt. Steve Carlton, Jim Kaat, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, Ryne Sandberg, Scott Rolen, Jim Thome, Pedro Martinez, and Roy Halladay. Pete Rose isn't in the hall of fame, but he is represented in this collection.

There are 79 different autographs included - 18 are cards (6 of which are factory signed) 3 index cards, 3 team issue photo cards, 1 religious tract, the remainder on various sized photos, mostly 8x10's The autographs are of lesser known players that were difficult or impossible to find cards in a Phillies uniform for. While we will offer our usual authenticity guarantee for autographs (see the bottom of this description or the terms and conditions for details), that guarantee will not apply to signatures for players who appeared in 20 or less MLB games due to it being unlikely authenticators will have exemplars for players that obscure.

Long-time friend of the company Carl Frysinger recently passed and made arrangements to consign his collection. With a collection that stretched from 1887 - 2022 and was as close to comprehensive as we've ever seen, he was one of the foremost Phillies collectors in the hobby. In his memory The Collector Connection will be donating 1% of our portion of the proceeds of the sale of his items to the Central PA Foodbank in Carl’s name.

We guarantee all uncertified autographs to pass 3rd party authentication with CAS our authenticator of choice. If you want to get autographs certified you need to notify us before you pay. We submit them for you. If an autograph doesn't pass we refund both the purchase price AND the authentication fee. In the case of a group lot we divide what you paid by the number of pieces in the lot to determine refund treating all pieces in a group as equal.
