During the January 22nd, 1983 Saturday Night Live episode, Joe Piscopo announced a contest: The person who correctly guessed the date that George Steinbrenner would fire Billy Martin (again) would win free world series tickets (adding "No transportation, no lodging, no meals! Big spenders, huh?"). Well, Martin bucked the odds and finished out the season (he would be fired 12/16/83). Was this pass issued so they could film a pre-recorded bit about there being no winners that never aired, or did Piscopo manage to get one due to his celebrity status? An interesting piece either way.
