There is, to this day, debate about the first 4 cards in the set. Are they Ivy League American Football Players or Rugby Players? Either way they are rare enough that having 2 of the 4 (plus 2 of the 4 european footballers, or soccer players, as we would call them) is a big deal. The set also has 6 cricketers. It is an obvious cousin to the R & S artistic Baseball Set which is fairly well known. Same parent comapny and it is believed that these were issued on both sides of the atlantic, hence the inclusion of American Football. If these could be 100% proven to be American Football they would be neck and neck with the Beecher card for the first "card" depiction of American football. Both fotball players and one soccer player have had their heads taped back on and suffer from several creases and wrinkles yet they present very nicely from the front
