Editorial comment from Scott: I've been pre grading cards for submissions for over 20 years. I've never had a batch come back as divergent as the ones in this auction. Sure, I miss a few things here and there, but there are more inexplicable grades than I think I've seen in my entire career combined in this one auction.
I honestly thought this Rose had a chance at a 9.
Nicely centered with virtually flawless corners great gloss, edges, surface etc. The only thing I can personally find under magnification and extreme lighting is a paper flaw in the bottom of the "R" in his facsimile signature.
I am fairly well known for my conservative grading standards and also for my ability to accurately project grades. Hopefully this is a one-time anomaly and we'll get back on track, as complaining about third party grades is about as boring as poker bad beat stories.
