Cards were part of a set of 59 Phillies and Athletics Players and One team pennant card that were available as a cutouts from the Philadelphia Bulletin Sunday Edition from 5/22 through 7/24 1949. The fully intact back page of this issue includes Stan Lopata, Schoolboy Rowe, Puddin Head Jones, Elmer Valo, Hank Majeski, and Dick Fowler. We have seen singles of this set for sale, and even a near set. This is the first time we've seen them as they originally appeared on the back of the funny pages. The booklet itself is missing pages 5-12 from the interior. For those with an interest in comic history, the "Silly Philly" comic on page one and the cover art are by Bill Keane, the creator of Family Circus (which was still 11 years from being born when this was published) working his first newspaper job.
