A small collection of 1911-1915 sports related newspaper clippings that have been glued to each side of a magazine page. Of particular interest are the two Swedish clippings, both regarding the 1912 Olympics. One pictures Andrew Sockalexis, Jin Thorpe, and Louis Tewanima, with the caption: "Almost all nationalities of the world will be represented at the Olympic races in Stockholm. The figure above shows three Indians, namely Tewanima of the Hopi tribe, Thorpe of the Sac and Fox tribe, and Sockalexis. They will participate in Marathon races and other athletic performances." The second is a photo from the opening ceremonies, captioned: "Olympic performances in Stockholm. The Olympic performances in Stockholm begin next Saturday and will last for nine days. The picture above shows part of the parade that took place the other day to mark the completion of a magnificent $250,000 stadium that will seat tens of thousands of people. Thousands of athletes from all parts of the world will take part in the competitions." (Translations by Google translate) Other clippings are all from English language papers and include a pre-race article about the 1012 Olympic marathon, a brief account of one of Jabez Wolffe's failed channel swim attempts, two stories about long distance swimmer Rose Pitinoff, an account of the trap shooting prowess of composer John Philip Sousa, a note about a tennis match between two Titanic survivors, and the announcement of an upcoming boxing match between Willie Ritchie and Jack Hogan.
