In a successful attempt to force the Majors to expand Attorney William Shea (namesake of Shea Stadium) fromed the "Continental League" teams were appointed and a schedule made to begin play in 1961. MLB caved and awarded an expansion team to NY starting in 1962 and added several teams over the next 10 years which was actually the goal of the league. This Photo shows Shea and Rickey (league President" meeting with Senator Keating of NY in early 1960 not terrible long before MLB gave in. We believe this to be a type one press photo with paper caption still attached. Neat, little known, piece of baseball history.
