TODAY IN THE WORLD OF SPORTS

NEW YORK.....NUMBER 1, AT LEFT SHOWS WLADEK ZBUSKO, POLISH WRESTLER, AND GRAECO-ROMAN WRESTLING CHAMPION OF THE WORLD AND CHAMPION OF POLAND, WHO TO-NIGHT WILL BE PRESENTED WITH A DIAMOND STUDED BELT, EMBLEMATIC OF THE WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP OF POLAND AT A DINNER TENDERED HIM.

If you read the description for the previous lot the photo of his brother Stanislaus you'll note the odd story of his misreported death for which we can find no other evidence. Wladek however WAS mistakenly reported dead in 1936 in Spain during the Spanish Civil War, so his brother's photo has some weird foreshadowing of a mistaken death report in a war situation. One of the weirder stories we've ever stumbled upon.
