The game was held to raise money for the war effort. If you purchased $1000 in War Bonds you got a "free" ticket. The game was between players from the NY teams vs a team of current MLB Service members. There was also a gathering of all time greats who took the field for a little exhibition play before the actual game. This group (who was photographed for a "tableau of Yesterday") included Babe Ruth, Walter Johnson, Honus Wagner, Connie Mack, Duffy lewis, George Sisler, Bill Klem, Red Murray, Frankie Frisch and Tris Speaker. In the pregame ceremonies Ruth homered to the short porch of the Polo Grounds off of Walter Johnson.
The beauty of this example is that it is a full unused ticket and not a stub. The MK designation comes from the number "4" being written in pencil on the blank back. A very attractive ticket with light corner wear.
