While we don't normally bother with long player bios and boring our knowledgeable bidders with stuff they already know, Cravath warrants a little discussion. He retired in 1920 as the All-Time Home Run Leader having led the league 6 times in that category. His 119 in the Deadball Era was pretty spectacular and a lot of you already knew that, but wait, there's more! He didn't get a full time starting job in the majors until he was 31! He was a west coast guy who played in the PCL (which was very nearly major league quality and lots of West Coast guys didn't want to leave their homes and go to the East Coast centered majors. He finally came to Boston had a middling 277 AB's there and then tore up the minor leagues for 4 years before finally catching on with the Phillies. Obviously he was never going to put the record out of Ruth's grasp, but he might well be better remembered and even a HOF'er today if he had started in the majors at a more typical age. He hit 3 Home runs prior to his age 31 season!

Pennant has heavier stitch holes around the perimeter with daylight visible through several of them. The photo has a few creases and some spots of surface wear and the tip of the pennant is intact but definitely bent to one side.

Long-time friend of the company Carl Frysinger recently passed and made arrangements to consign his collection. With a collection that stretched from 1887 - 2022 and was as close to comprehensive as we've ever seen, he was one of the foremost Phillies collectors in the hobby. In his memory The Collector Connection will be donating 1% of our portion of the proceeds of the sale of his items to the Central PA Foodbank in Carl’s name.

We are finishing up Carl's amazing lifetime collection in this auction and would like to thank everyone who supported the efforts, especially those who made an extra donation on top of our efforts. We will be sending a little over $1000 to the foodbank in Carl's name.
