CGC Signature series autographs were witnessed by CGC. This was signed by Stan Lee on 3/3/2017
The 30¢ #1 was released on April 12th 1977 6 weeks BEFORE the movie came out. It helped promote the movie to its target audience, and it may well have saved Marvel. They paid no royalty until the book sold 100,000 copies. That influx of cash kept Marvel solvent at the beginning of the change from newsstand to direct mail was taking place. The first issue was such a huge hit that a second printing with an increased 35¢ price was released after the movie. Star Wars is crucial to the history of Marvel which is what makes this pairing of book and signature so important. Most people think of Spider-Man or Fantastic Four or X-Men when getting a Stan Lee autograph, this is a much harder combination to find yet makes perfect sense considering what Stan Lee owed to George Lucas and Star Wars. Don't miss out!
