These 12 individually wrapped balls in the original box were consigned by the son of former minor league umpire Joseph Coppa, who was active in the Pioneer league for the 1953-1955 seasons. Wrappers indicate that they are Warren Giles balls, and there is an additional name printed on the seal- Claude Engberg president Pioneer League. Engberg presided over the Pioneer League for a slightly shorter period of time than Giles led the NL, serving from 1953 to 1965. Research indicates that these balls would be standard Warren Giles balls. but with an additional side stamp for the pioneer league, though you obviously cannot see that while the ball is wrapped. A handful of the seals have broken with age, but we didn't want to risk damaging the wrapper by taking a ball out. Other than the seal issue and some minor toning, the wrappers are in outstanding shape. The outer box has some minor shelf wear, but does have moisture staining, especially on the bottom.
