Unlike most 1953's the recoloring is NOT in the name box at the bottom. Rather there is a tiny spot of surface wear in his cap that was colored in. Card has the appearance of a solid VG/EX+ and represents a great chance to get a very visually appealing copy at a relative bargain price.
NOTE: The scans are SGC's scans and the spot of recoloring (maybe 1/16" square) is in the darkest part of his cap next to the logo, so you can't see it. When the card arrives we will provide better scans so you can see the issue.
